AFTERCARE TIPS
- Always wash your hands before touching your piercing (avoid touching unless necessary).
- Don’t play with your piercing – and don’t let anyone else touch, kiss, or lick it until it’s healed.
- Don’t wear restrictive clothing over your piercing and wash your sheets once a week.
- Don’t listen to your friends if you have questions about your piercing – drop by or call us.
- For oral piercings: Avoid spicy, acidic, salty, and hot foods and drinks for a few days. Take your time eating – remember slow, small bites.
- Reduce smoking or consider quitting while healing an oral piercing.
Whitish-yellow discharge is normal. It’s a mix of blood plasma, lymph, and dead cells. This is not puss and indicates a healing piercing.
Expect a bit of bleeding and bruising. You may feel aching, pinching and tightness. Your piercing may be uncomfortable for the first few days.
If you’re not sure if what you feel is normal, ask a piercer. We’re happy to help, whether we pierced you or not. Piercing follow-ups are free.
CHEMICALS WILL NOT HELP YOU HEAL
Any product like these will not help you: alcohol, iodine, Hibitain, Bactine, bacitracin, Polysporin, Neutrogena, antibacterial soap, peroxide and any other chemical based cleaner.
While great for their intended uses, they slow down the healing process.
Chemicals kill the new cells that form to help heal the piercing. This results in the piercing staying an open wound for longer.
All chemical cleansers will dry out your skin. Some of them are oil-based. In other words, your new piercing won’t be able to breathe. This leads to longer healing times and increases your risk of complications.
