PIERCER - Mya

Hey friends! I’m Mya, you may also know me as Poked.by.mya!

I started at the studio as front-end staff in 2023, and in 2024 I officially began my journey into the world of piercing. When I first started working here, I had no idea I’d end up discovering my passion, let alone a career I genuinely can’t imagine myself doing anything else!

After getting my own lobes, nose, and septum pierced, I started to realize just how meaningful a piercing can be. It can be a little piece of self-expression, a marker of change, a celebration of an accomplishment, or simply something that makes you feel a little more like you. But what really hooked me was seeing the happiness on people’s faces when they left the studio wearing something that felt like a part of their character and their story.

As soon as I had the opportunity, I started my apprenticeship through BodyMods and learned from Chantel, who has gone from being my mentor to a friend for life. I feel incredibly lucky to be trusted with such a personal part of people’s stories and to be the artist who helps bring their body-modification ideas to life.
I’m definitely a sucker for a tricky piercing (because who doesn’t love a good challenge? ), but one of my favourite parts of this job is learning something new every day. I love meeting new clients, catching up with familiar faces, and getting to be part of so many different journeys.

When I’m not in the studio, you’ll probably find me somewhere in the wilderness with friends, curled up with my dogs, hanging out with my family, or getting tattooed… or maybe even getting poked myself.
